Tech Giants Invest $500 Billion in the Future of Artificial Intelligence

NVIDIA and South Korea’s SK Group have announced a plan worth more than $500 billion to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure, build large-scale data centers, and develop next-generation processing memory technologies. The initiative highlights how the global race to create the infrastructure required for the AI-driven economy has entered a new phase.

The rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence has significantly increased demand for computing power, advanced chips, and high-performance data centers. In response, NVIDIA and South Korea’s SK Group have launched a major collaboration to expand AI infrastructure, with the project’s value estimated at more than $500 billion.

The partnership includes the development of large-scale AI data centers, the construction of intelligent semiconductor facilities, and cooperation on advanced memory technologies required for training and operating AI models. A key component of the initiative is NVIDIA’s collaboration with SK Hynix to supply and develop next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a critical technology for processing large AI models, intelligent agents, and physical AI applications.

As part of this program, SK Telecom plans to establish a two-gigawatt AI data center that will use NVIDIA’s latest-generation chips and SK Hynix’s HBM4 memory technology. The first phase of this infrastructure is expected to become operational in 2027.

In addition, NVIDIA has announced plans to work with Naver and investment group Brookfield to support the development of Naver’s AI data center in South Korea. The move is part of a broader effort by technology companies to expand computing capacity needed for the next generation of AI-powered services.

Experts believe that competition in artificial intelligence is no longer limited to developing software and large language models. Instead, it increasingly depends on building physical infrastructure, including data centers, advanced chips, communication networks, and storage systems.

Growing investment in this sector shows that the future digital economy will rely heavily on AI infrastructure. These foundations are expected to transform industries ranging from healthcare and energy to manufacturing and financial services.
